Since London is such a well known and blogged-about city, I wanted to write a special occasion post. One of my best girlfriends from college is a very unique individual, and she had one of the coolest, most unique weddings I've ever been to! I've been to London probably over 100 times, but never experienced it quite like this.
The wedding took place at St Johns Waterloo and started as a traditional, English wedding. Although, right from the start, Hannah's backless, gold sequin dress was not your traditional bride gown! She looked ready for the Oscars red carpet. About half way through the ceremony, I started to pay more attention to my program and invitation. Curiously, there was no information about the reception. I was disappointed, because Hannah and her groom, James are a very fun couple. Ah well, I figured it was a beautiful wedding and gave me an excuse to visit London.
Afterwards, the guests milled around the courtyard taking photos, but we all seemed a little confused about what to do next. Suddenly, an entourage of tour buses pulled up in front of the the church. All of the wedding attendants ushered us onto these party buses for a surprise tour of London en route to the surprise venue! The bridesmaids and groomsmen had all prepared tour guide speeches and fun songs to sing along the way. It was a blast!
It was a beautiful, sunny day in London and we stopped at all the major tourist viewpoints around the city. Once we started to head into downtown, the curiosity settled in again. This part of downtown is not a typical destination for any wedding venue. Sure enough, we stopped right in front of an old banking hall. This would be the reception venue!
The Banking Hall had never been used as a venue before but leave it up to Hannah and James to find something completely new for their wedding. The hall was stunning and the party went wild because the acoustics in this big space created a great sound system. I loved all of the details they put into making this event extra special for their guests (most of which had traveled from some far off country).
Wishing you a lifelong journey of happiness, triumph and joy Hannah and James. Thank You for inviting me to your celebration!
