Last year I started setting strict boundaries around my social media usage and it has vastly improved the quality of my sleep, my mood, and my productivity. At night I turn my phone off and leave it downstairs in the kitchen for the night. I don't even look at my phone in the morning until I've meditated and done the morning routine with my son. During the day, I set timer limits on when I use the apps that are the most addictive for me (i.e. Instagram).
Recently, I watched #thesocialdilemma and it was very INFORMATIVE. It talks about the major role AI has played in polarizing us as a people - not just in our social interactions, but also in our politics, our news, everything. Given how heavy the world is right now, I am searching for answers and ways to BRING US BACK TOGETHER. It starts in the home and the information we consume. I make it a point to not live in an echo chamber and to really LISTEN to other people's experiences + perspectives. Since I am part of the last generation to grow up pre-internet, it is important to me that I instill healthy social media boundaries + habits in myself and my son. Especially since Social Media is part of my job.
Have you watched The Social Dilemma? What did you think? Do you think AI can be a part of the solution?
