Life of a Traveler

When people think of the life of a traveler, they often think of someone who backpacks across Europe or couch surfs for years on end. And while some people do travel that way, that’s not the only way the life of a traveler plays out.

The life of a traveler involves traveling, but it also involves a spirit of exploration and inward expansion, whether you’re globe-trotting or taking a walk down the street.

I firmly believe in the power of travel. I believe it can change you, broaden your horizons, and help you look at the world in a different way. I know that’s what the life of a traveler has done for me.

Did you know I traveled to 35 countries before I turned 25? I always wanted to be a travel correspondent and can’t wait to revisit some of my favorite places with my son. Lately, I’ve been reflecting on these memorable experiences– in particular, my “Bar Trip” to the Middle East with my best friends. We jokingly called it this because I had been spent so many hours feverishly studying for the bar that I needed a vacation to unwind after I had finished writing the grueling exam. Before the ink had even dried on my test papers, we were stamping our passports and boarding a plane headed to the Middle East (Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey).

Here’s a fun fact about the life of a traveler that perfectly illustrates the spirit of that life. Before Instagram, I used to make these thick-bound scrapbooks and I have about 15 volumes! I have a more expanded recap of the trip here on the blog, but we started our journey in Cairo, Egypt, where we rode camels through bumpy terrain and posed for photos in front of the awe-inspiring Giza Pyramids. You know I love lions, and I can tell you that the Great Sphinx is even more regal up close than I had ever imagined. We also got to cruise down the Nile River and stay at the Sharm el-Sheikh resort.

Dreaming of the day I can revisit this adventure in the sand and sun. In the meantime, I plan on sharing more of these stories if you’re interested! Do you like to travel overseas?
