I recently took a much-need self-care break with the girls at GlenIvy Hot Springs so we could all relax, rejuvenate, and recharge. It’s was a wonderful time filled with laughter, destressing, and generally letting the weight of the world off of our shoulders.
If you know me, you know that I’m as fierce about self-care as I am about friendships and giving back. I wanted to combine the two, so I decided to spoil the women in my life with a day trip to this amazing spa. We shared a day relaxing in the restorative hot springs, detoxifying at the clay mud pool, relaxing in their subterranean grotto, and enjoying massages at the peaceful massage huts.
I’m of the opinion that the daily grind is hard enough without forgetting to take care of ourselves. Each and every one of us wakes up to our share of personal challenges, big or small, and we have to conquer them every day, over the course of several days, or sometimes it’s an ongoing thing. It’s vital that we take care of ourselves throughout all of that, and days like the one I spent with my friends at GlenIvy Hot Springs are an excellent way to do just that.
You can only show up for others if you show up for yourself first. You can’t give away what you don’t have, so practicing self-care is absolutely vital. If you haven’t given yourself permission to do something kind for yourself, now is the time to get into that mindset.
It’s natural to want to take care of others, but you can’t do that if you don’t take care of yourself. So take a few minutes to relax. Read a book. Soak in a bath. Play a video game if you’re into that. Just do something that makes you happy - big or small. It’s all about caring for ourselves so we can care for each other!
