Kicking of Period Poverty Awareness Week with Kotex and The Alliance for Period Supplies on Now This News! On May 24th I interviewed Jennifer Gaines, Program Director of Period Supplies, to discuss the five ways we can address period poverty in our communities. You can View the Full Video Here.

  1. Talk about it! The first step in ending period poverty is raising awareness and destroying the stigma around period poverty. By normalizing the conversation we break the cycle of shame and silence around this critical issue impacting all of us. Having open conversations about Period Poverty is how we spread awareness, inform and take action!

  2. Donate Supplies to anyone you know who may be in need of pads, liners, cups, tampons or even menstrual underwear. You can also find local organizations to donate to through the Alliance for Period Supplies.

  3. If you, or anyone you know, are in need of supplies, Call 211 or visit 211.org and ask for a basic need bank in your area.

  4. Align with brands that give back! Throughout the year, various retail partners will be teaming up with U by Kotex to support With U, She Can. Your purchase of any U by Kotex product will spark a donation to support even more individuals in need of help. Visit to UByKotex.com often for participating retail partners and promotion information.

  5. Take action in your community! Check out allianceforperiodsupplies.org for more information on opportunities like hosting a period supply drive, volunteering at a local period supply program or contacting your elected officials.

Please join me in getting personally involved and changing the messaging around period care as a basic human need. Also, if you would like to help me raise money to donate supplies, please visit my fundraising page. Thank You!
