I cannot believe it has been a full year since my first experience at the Big City Moms Biggest Baby Shower. I remember feeling overwhelmed and excited as my also-pregnant-BFF and I walked into the stunningly massive Skirball Center with hundreds of other expectant families. I was on a serious mission: learn and test out as much as I could about baby products so I could put together my registry. A year later, with a son who is 8-months-old now, I feel slightly more wizened and relaxed at the shower - this time able to take it in and enjoy it from a different view.
Big City Moms Baby Shower
The BCM Biggest Baby Shower is such a fun and exciting environment! The first thing you get when you walk in the door is a huge canvas swag bag to collect all of the samples and information pamphlets that you get from companies - along with some awesome goddies and gifts. I used ALL of the swag I brought home from the shower and it was such a lifesaver, because I didn’t really know what exactly I needed right away. Once the baby was born there were a lot of “Ah HA!” moments and “oh THAT’S why this is so helpful!”
Walk Away with a Ton of Knowledge
Another outstanding feature of the shower is the educational seminars. Being the nerd that I am, I attended ALL of them my first time around. I learned SO MUCH important information about safe sleeping, nutrition, proper baby gear and everything else directly from the leading industry experts. I love this component of the Biggest Baby Shower and would go again just to learn about the updated safety information. The takeaways I got from the seminar topics still inform my decisions as a new Mom even 8-months later. Added perk: at the end of each seminar topic they have a BIG giveaway - usually a new stroller!
Demo and Test the Equipment!
But the most practical and helpful part of the Biggest Baby Shower for me was getting to demo and test equipment hands-on. I had a list of items I wasn’t sure about and I spent a lot of time talking to companies about strollers, bassinets, swaddles, rockers, pack n’ plays, nutirtion, carriers and everything in-between. No joke, when I went home that night I completely redid my entire baby shower registry based on what I had tried out.
