Enough is enough. As mothers, one of our greatest fears is to outlive our children. We were there when they took their first breath; we do not want to witness them take their last. So many mothers have lost their children due to racist violence. Our hearts go out to the families, friends, and survivors of every life lost in this active battle to dismantle racism. Their loss is our loss. Enough is enough.
Enough Racism and Injustice
Everyone in this photo, (individually and/or as a family), has suffered MANY injustices, direct profiling, harassment, and violent acts because of racism. It is real and it must be talked about. Racism thrives in silence, and when we refuse to talk about race at an early age, children absorb our silence as shame. We must find a way to talk to each other and have meaningful conversations if we want healing. It isn’t comfortable. Many people don’t know what to say. But for everyone who is trying, WE SEE YOU. It’s okay to amplify someone’s voice who resonates with you. My son isn’t old enough yet to understand some of the outrageous, hurtful and scary things people have said to me and my family in front of him - about him - about us. We are actively working for change, for UNITY, for PEACE, for HOPE, for CHANGE - so that by the time he does understand, we are living in a different world.
Join Us Because Enough is Enough
Join the #FashionMamas community in signing the @colorofchange and @changedotorg petitions to demand that ALL four officers who killed George Floyd are charged with murder. Not just one, but ALL. And to the Police officers and their families who are standing up for change, we see you too. We need you too. For every member's #FMBlackLivesMatter campaign post, Fashion Mamas is donating $5 to the Official George Floyd Memorial Fund. Please spread the word. #JusticeForFloyd #westandtogether
