Mom Burnout

Between being an entrepreneur and being a Mom, it is very easy to forget to take time for myself. Mom burnout is a real thing, but it seems like the topic is becoming as tired as us Moms! Over the past year and a half, moms have grown collectively more silent about our feelings of anxiety, fatigue, self-doubt, and failure. As women, we are socialized to internalize our pain and endure our suffering quietly, but the pandemic has pushed even the most resilient mother to the brink of exhaustion. Balancing work, life, and remote learning has been a challenge, to say the least.

We aren’t meant to live in such a way that our daily lives are hectic and frustrating. In fact, we aren’t capable of being “on” all the time. The very nature of our hormonal cycles, which fluctuate continuously throughout the day, don’t allow for us to be hustling constantly. Did you know that the hormones cortisol and prolactin can be measured for peak activity during certain periods of the day?

This is why selfcare is so important! Rest easily in the knowledge that you are at your best when you take time for yourself. You cannot serve from an empty cup. This week, I'm sharing a loving reminder to do something for yourself! Need some ideas? Try one of these:

  • Read a book you’ve been putting off

  • Take a spiritual retreat

  • Light a candle and give yourself a “glow-up night”

  • Book a day at the spa with your closest friend

  • Drop the kids off at Grandma’s for the weekend and go on a date night with your partner

As for me? This month I made it a goal to finish 2 books! I am finished with book one and would highly recommend Super Attractor by @gabbybernstein . Now on to book two!
