As a long-time book nerd and lover of the novel, I was excited to attend an event with my bestie, Veena, to talk with Taylor John Smith about the movie adaptation of one of my favorite novels, Where the Crawdads Sing.
Coming of Age Where the Crawdads Sing
I’ve always been a big fan of coming-of-age novels. There’s something magical about delving into that time in a person’s life when everything seems to be changing. Childhood is leaving, adulthood is on the horizon, and the path seems fraught at every turn.
When I picked up the novel, I knew I was going to love it, and I absolutely did. The combination of the heartfeltness of the coming-of-age angle along with the mystery of a murder was so captivating.
All of this is simply a long way of me saying that, as a book nerd, I am rarely left feeling completely satisfied with a film adaptation, but Where the Crawdads Sing hit the mark perfectly. That’s why I was so excited to talk about it with one of its stars, Taylor John Smith.
Talking About the Film
In addition to being a fan of the novel, I’m a fan of Reese Witherspoon, and thanks to seeing the film, a BIG fan of Taylor John Smith, so being able to hang out with Veena and talk with him about the movie was amazing.
Over the course of our conversation, we covered everything from what drew him to the movie to his inspiration and his takeaway of the film.
Where the Crawdads Sing is Out Now.
Where the Crawdads Sing is out now on Blu-Ray and digital, and if you don’t add it to your collection, you’re missing out. I actually don’t watch much television, but I’ve added this film to my collection. That’s how much I love it.
