I was able to celebrate Aloisia Beauty and naturally beautiful skin with great friends at Cielo Farms winery, and it was an amazing time. Friends and fun were the aorder of the day.

I recently took a much-need self-care break with the girls at GlenIvy Hot Springs so we could all relax, rejuvenate, and recharge. It’s was a wonderful time filled with laughter, destressing, and generally letting the weight of the world off of our shoulders.

Last week, I was invited to the BlogHer Health Summit to speak about Black Maternal Health. I was so honored to lead a discussion that empowered Black women to take charge of their maternal health and the steps we can all take toward more equitable healthcare.

Something I don’t often get to talk about here is the volunteer and pro bono work I love. In some capacity, I’ve been helping refugee assistance organizations for over two decades. Helping the displaced find solace in the world is very close to my heart and serving these communities is important to me because I believe that health, safety, and well-being are basic human rights. Now I’m doing my best to instill the same sense of empathy and involvement in my son.

I’ve been in love with renfaire since I first experienced it as a little kid. I was immediately captivated by all the costumes, the jousting, and pretty much everything that went along with it. It just captured my imagination.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day this year. I psent mine with my sone and some amazing friends at a special Mother’s Day event at the LA Zoo. Blowfish Malibu treated us all to a lovely ay of explration, education, and forever memories, and it couldn’t have been more special.

When people think of the life of a traveler, they often think of someone who backpacks across Europe or couch surfs for years on end. And while some people do travel that way, that’s not the only way the life of a traveler plays out.

It’s Earth Day! I’ve always believed that humans should be the stewards of the planet and not the thing that hurts it. That’s why I’ve always been a proponent of teaching conservation to kids. I took my son to Aquarium Pacific to celebrate Earth Day and to teach him about all the amazing life that lives in the sea.

This Easter, I got together with some of my favorite mom friends for an amazing Easter brunch. It was such a wonderful time of connecting, laughing, bonding over stories about motherhood and beyond, and of course, enjoying delicious food.

RYKA shoes empower by making it more comfortable for us women to crush our days and they also work to make the world as a whole better for women. Recently, I partnered with them on the Futures Without Violence initiative in which they partnered with the nonprofit organization of the same name aimed squarely at preventing domestic violence and sexual assault. They did that by donating $25,000.00 of the proceeds from the sales of their Courage Sneaker to the organization.

The past few weeks I’ve been in crisis mode. I didn’t want to share here but I am also human and it didn’t feel right to keep smiling for the camera when I’m in distress. And I most admire and respect those people who do share honestly and openly in this overly curated space. Sharing is what connects us. Sharing is what makes us human, gives us empathy for one another.

Galentine’s Day 2022 was one of the best I’ve ever had. I spent it with some of the most important people in my life. As we celebrated each other, I was struck by how important friendships with other women really are - specifically women who lift you up!

Guess how I met all my New Years 2022 resolutions by the end of January? I didn’t make any! I don’t believe in waiting until some special month of the year to make changes in my life.

Multigenerational homes were once the norm across the globe, and even here in the United States, there were many homes with multiple generations living with one another. Those were the days when the phrase “it takes a village” meant that, quite often, the village was in the home.

Today I feel so alive and more in alignment than ever before – loved by friends and family – healthy, happy, and grateful to be on this journey we call life. I’m constantly evolving and growing in a positive direction – leaning more into my purpose, feeling powerful and fearless.

2021 was a spectacular year for me! Despite how this year is ending with sickness on the rise, cancelled travel + events, and the familiar fears of a prolonged pandemic creeping in - I have to stay positive. Especially in this space, I always strive to keep my voice uplifted and focused on gratitude for the highlights. So, as I reflect back on this past year, I am grateful for the abundance of JOY, love, growth and experiences I had. Every moment we share on this earth is a gift and I am counting my blessings. Rarely do we get the opportunity to meet one of our personal heroes, and even less so to walk away feeling as though they truly are who they proclaim to be. Desmond Tutu was one of those heroes for me—and I was fortunate enough to meet him several years ago, as a starry-eyed undergrad at USC. He came to speak on our campus, to share his timeless wisdom, and to inspire a new generation.

I love the holidays because I feel an intense presence in my connectedness to friends and family. Not to mention I love celebrating and the holiday season is full of celebrations! But I also know this year will be a tough holiday season for many people. The best thing we can give each other right now is extra kindness, compassion and love.

The holidays are a time of simultaneous joy and chaos. As the mom of a toddler, I’m excited to be celebrating this year, seeing the magic of the season through his young and innocent eyes. On the other hand, the side of the holidays reserved for the adults, like festive work events and boozy New Year’s parties, can be understandably stressful.
